By the year 2030, the 80 urban areas of Mexico are expected to add 10 million new houses and 415 million square meters of production area to support job growth.
Even though this demand represents business opportunities for the construction sector, the different types of socio-environmental impact that can be expected from this level of construction will be irreversible and devastating if short-term measures are not taken to mitigate them.
In the face of these challenges, ITESO promotes graduate programs in Sustainability in the Department of Habitat and Urban Development, in order to use an interdisciplinary approach to address the increasing environmental and social deterioration of urban spaces at the local, national and global levels.
